Per Radio-Television Service Dealer (Cowan Publishing Corp., 1939 series ?) v16#10 (October 1955) [pp. 24] magazine article "Trade" stated Tung-Sol created to comic to help sell the reliability of their television picture tubes. This was an effort to undo the damage being caused by poor quality picture tubes being sold to consumers and seemingly making newspaper headlines per the article.
