Synopsis: |
Mary marries Bert but they are poor. She meets Bill, an old friend of her father, and visits a gambling club. Mary’s father was a gambler, and she wins a large sum of money but doesn’t tell Bert. After a time, her luck changes and she signs a number of IOUs. Bert finds out and pays, but is angry at his wife: “you cheated us out of our life savings.” Mary leaves him, vowing to repay the money, and works in a fish processing factory. Months later, she gives Bert the money and they reconcile. |
