Synopsis:	Famous author Mark hires toy shop owner Jill to entertain Chuck, a little boy stricken with leukemia that Mark is caring for. The townspeople suspect Jill of having an affair with Mark, since Chuck’s presence is a secret. When Chuck’s mother picks him up, Jill thinks she’ll never see Mark again, but he returns and says he loves her.

She promises to change, and they decide to get married before he enters the military. However, Dewey calls Polly a “teaser” and kisses her just as Ashby comes in. Ashby leaves. Polly starts attending USO dances near Ashby’s camp and convinces the other soldiers to make Ashby listen to her explanation. They are reunited.

However, he learns it was all part of Mona’s scheme to ruin their romance. Kip and Deb get back together and Mona is left out in the cold.
