Helen tells them she's leaving town. As she goes, Helen hopes she can "find happiness and put an end to the torture of loving Gene."

She is surprised to discover she likes him. Lisa faints and Kathy gives Larry money for a doctor and stays with them until the crisis has passed. Larry later visits Kathy to thank her, and to tell her that he loves her (he and Lisa are "just friends"). Kathy admits she loves him too, despite the socio-economic gulf between them.
