The manuscript tells the story of French princess Georgette, whom Philippe suggests marry Germanic prince Frederick to save their country from invasion. Norma finds it romantic, Jules thinks rationally. Philippe falls in love with Georgette and defeats Frederick in combat. As Philippe loved Georgette, Jules admits he loves Norma.

Laura moves to New York to start over, and meets Alex. They fall in love, but she reveals her identity and says "I'm not worth loving!" Alex proves Gregory killed her father to steal his invention, framing Laura. Alex and Laura can now marry.
