Sun Publications are known for only two comic books. This and 'Sun Fun Komiks #1' from a year earlier in 1939.
Only a very incomplete scan exists of Sun Fun so if anyone out there has a copy, PLEASE consider scanning or letting DCM scan this book for you!

Published in March, 1940 - the same date as the first Street and Smith comic book Shadow Comics #1, which features the first appearances in comic books by The Shadow, Doc Savage, and Air Ace Bill Barnes. Prize Publications starts out that same month with Prize Comics #1. It's also the same date as Adventure Comics #48 that introduces Hour-Man!
---
Sun Publications, founded in 1912 by Arthur J. Gontier, Sr., (1864-1942), were previously pulp publishers. Titles include '10-Story Book' (a pin-up girl magazine where Louis L'Amour would first be published. Examples are on archive.com) and 'Golden Fleece' both were done by 1940.
Colosssus and Sun Fun look to be their very short lived attempt to jump in on the new comic book boom triggered with Superman in 1938.

Comment: Been wondering about this book since Jerry Bails circulated a picture of the cover over fifty years ago. That was one very weird comic. Thanks to all involved!
