||Tom’s widowed father John returns from Europe with a new wife, Wilma, and her teen-aged daughter, Martha. Tom makes friends with Martha, who grew up in a concentration camp, but he spreads nasty rumours about Wilma. When his father finds out and angrily strikes him, Tom runs away and is hit by a car and injured. Learning Wilma and Martha are planning to leave, Tom goes home and begs them to stay: a happy family is formed.
