Comic Story (7 pages) Written in the Stars
Synopsis: Elda is superstitious and believes in astrology. Fortune teller Madame Boiseau says Elda will fall in love with someone whose name begins with “J,” and then Elda meets civil engineering graduate Jud. Jud gets a job with a construction firm, but Madame Boiseau warns Elda that she sees “someone you love…falling like a star!” Elda tells Jud’s boss that Jud is a fake so he’ll be fired from his work on a high-rise building. A newspaper story exposes Madame Boiseau and “the superstitions racket.” Elda clears Jud’s name and they get back together.

John’s womanizing college friend Ed shows up and Lydia is attracted to him. While John is working, Lydia dates Ed, and they decide to elope. Lydia discovers Ed has concealed a note to her from John: John’s placed a deposit on their future home. Lydia dumps Ed and goes back to John.

Gloria blames her dismissal on Janet’s jealousy and Rod believes her. Janet finds a photo showing the memo she got from her boss, and proves to Rod that she’s been telling the truth. Rod and Janet get married.

Synopsis: Joyce and Jeff meet at a fancy resort in New Mexico and fall in love. Janet fears Jeff thinks she’s wealthy, but she's really a secretary who saved for three years to finance her trip. Joyce loses $300 at a casino and doesn’t have the cash to pay, so Jeff covers her loss. The next day, he’s gone from the resort. Joyce returns to work in the city and accidentally bumps into Jeff, an engineer working on a construction site. He says he left because he thought Joyce was too rich for him. Joyce explains that she only makes $50 a week and they decide to get married and pool their resources.
