Synopsis: After Rickie’s parents are killed, she is consoled by her high school sweetheart Marty. He goes off to college and she attends nursing school. After graduation, she gets a hospital job and is assigned Paul as her patient: he’s a promising pianist who was badly burned in the fire that killed his family. Rickie and Paul bond over their shared tragedies and Rickie wonders if she loves him, but gives Paul’s case to another nurse at Marty’s insistence. Later, Rickie sees Paul and learns he’s engaged to her replacement. This reinforces her belief that Marty is the man she truly loves.

Synopsis: Janey and Tom are college sweethearts. She is the daughter of famous actor Jeff, but keeps their relationship secret because “people might not flock to see the glamorous Jeff Manton if they knew he had a grown daughter.” Tom thinks Janey is having an affair with the older man and they break up. When Jeff learns what happened, he brings Janey up on the stage and reveals that she’s his daughter, a scheme he and Tom cooked up. Tom and Janey reconcile.

Synopsis: Nurse Tam falls in love with new doctor Bob. They date, but he confesses he’s engaged to a “girl back home” and “no one else is allowed to come into my life!” Tam is upset, but Bob later admits he lied: he didn’t want to fall in love until his career was established. Tam still isn’t sure Bob loves her, so she asks her roommate Mary to go on a date with Bob and make a play for him. Tam overhears Bob tell Mary that he loves her. Tam quits her job and leaves, but Bob tracks her down; the man she saw with Mary wasn’t him, but her secret boyfriend. Tam and Bob get back together.

On her way to Worthmore’s private island, Janet has to be rescued by handsome Roland, and they spend time together while waiting for the weather to clear up. They fall in love but Janet is determined to marry Worthmore. Roland and Janet head for the island but are nearly sunk in a storm: Janet decides to give up her dreams of wealth and marry Roland instead. Little does she know that Roland is also rich.
