To reunite Connie and Andy, Joan pretends he was nothing but a passing fling to her. She hopes to find real love herself, some day.

Carol decides to marry him and move to the new town where Mike now works, over the objections of her mother (who has now lost her own job due to her domineering ways).

Vivian, a lady on a nearby park bench, tells Susan the story of her long-ago romance with Jim. She wanted to wait to marry until Jim finished law school and became successful. Vivian turns down other suitors, but Jim never comes back and one day she learns he married someone else. A lifelong spinster now, Vivian urges Susan to marry Ted right away and the young couple is happily reunited. After they’re gone, Vivian greets her long-time husband, Jim. She lied!
