Golf pro Mark and Barbara fall in love, and he forces her to discard her other admirers, since he can't love "a common flirt!" She isn't sure she's ready to commit, and leaves. Back at work in the city, Barbara finds she is no longer interested in other men. Mark shows up and they realize their love is true.

However, Lucy rebels when her little sister is made to do heavy farm work, and Mr. Carton backs down. Lucy and Janie meet Alan and he says their mother is better and will come to live with them--and he will marry Lucy.
