Synopsis: Rita and Paul have been dating for two years but he hasn’t asked her to marry him. She wonders if they should break up; he admits he was going to propose but now he’s been drafted and doesn't feel he should ask Rita to risk her future by marrying him. After Paul enters the service he changes his mind and they’re married at his Army camp. Paul is still worried and Rita wonders if the marriage was a mistake. Paul is reassured by the chaplain that “Uncle Sam” will care for his wife if Paul is killed in action, and now he can fully commit to Rita and their marriage.
