What a neat, unusual comic. Is this the entire book? It says "5 magazines for 10 cents" on the cover, but there's just one story here. |

To answer my own question about Key Ring Comics, here's some info a friend found on the web:
An odd little experiment by Dell Comics in 1941, the comic is distinguished by the fact that each of it’s five characters has their own 16 page section devoted to them, something rather rare in comics at that time when most characters got at most 8 to 12 pages.
Its real innovation and selling point however were the two hole punches it came with so the comic could be arranged in the order the reader wanted it in and then put in a school binder, making it easier to hide and read at school!
Also as each character has its own separate section with its own cover this makes Key Ring Comics the first multi-cover comic.
Lasting only 1 issue it featured Radior, the X-Ray Powerman, Sleepy Sampson, Sky Hawk, Viking Carter & Greg Gilday.
Because of the way its put together a whole issue has yet to be found and the part featuring Greg Gilday on the cover has yet to be found, and may not even exist anymore.
The character Radior is a member of The Project SuperPowers team that is published by Dynamite Entertainment. |
