She is proud of his ring accomplishments, but while training for a title fight, Larry learns he has a heart condition that will end his career. He decides to fight anyway, and doesn’t tell Teddy about his heart because she says “I don’t like has-beens.” Just before the bout, Larry’s manager tells Teddy the truth. Teddy tells Larry that she loves him for himself and doesn’t want him to fight any more.

George discovers what Linda did and breaks up with her. Linda devotes herself to helping Marilyn recover, and finally confesses to her. Marilyn doesn’t hold a grudge, and even helps reunite the repentant Linda and George.

When Ed and Grace start dating, Rose tells Grace that Ed is a womanizer. Rose becomes engaged to Larry, Ed’s brother, but jilts him to hurt Ed, even though she really loves Larry. Rose admits she lied about Ed; Grace and Ed reconcile, but Rose has lost Larry forever. She leaves town, alone.
