Comment: Nightmare 001 is a 37 page magazine containing 6 stories (one in prose form, and the last being only a page long). Each of the stories is successful in its own way (though the last is little better than filler), but the first and second managed to be the most original and surprising. Overall 3 1/2 stars out of 5. ========= THE BLOOD SHIP ========= A man loses his hand at the launching of a ship and curses it with his own blood. Determined to see the curse fulfilled he takes sail aboard her... to his own undoing. ========= THE CORPSE THAT WOULDN'T STAY DEAD ========= A tale of jealousy and death when two brothers are trapped by a blizzard. While not the most well written of the stories in this volume, it has a great twist. ========= THE JAW OF JARDINI ========= A short story presented in prose. This one is a surprisingly well written, if predictable little story of the dangers of pursuing knowledge regarding what lies beyond death. ========= THE FATAL NOTE ========= A coward, who lets his fiancé drown in a boating accident, is given a chance to redeem himself by the skeletal keeper of the lighthouse of death. Will he find the courage to save himself? ========= THE TUNNE OF TERROR ========= A man with a guilty conscience builds a carnival sideshow and gets his comeuppance. ========= VISION OF THE GODS ========= A simple one page story in which two film makers are left questioning their sanity after filming a girl who doesn’t appear in the footage. Really, this one's little more than filler.
