LE FLAMBEAU, "The Torch of Liberty," underground press, editorials by Papa Latourelle, under siege by Nazis. Alphonse Bidoux wounded. 13-year old Paul Dupree, trembling, told to slither through, carry the Torch forth. Papa L singing, grapples Nazi grenade, dies. Paul stumbles home, spills. Dad says they'll print LE FLAMBEAU. Mom suggests Paul's toy press, 4 lines of rubber type. They print 500 copies + addendum, "Papa L died singing La Marseillaise, but first thrust in our hands LE FLAMBEAU, The Torch of Liberty. Papa L, we salute you, torch in hand. We shall not let it fall." |
