Synopsis: Down and out drifter Delores winds up in Brookville and is befriended by Amos, orphan Aggie, and Mrs. Nelson. She considers it a "soft touch." Reporter Steve arrives for the brief annual tourist season and he and Delores fall in love. However, when his assignment is up, Steve returns to the city, disappointing Delores. She follows him and he says he wants to move to Brookville to be with Delores, but she admits she doesn't care about the town and he gets angry. Delores returns to the town to get her things, then realises she loves the town and its people. Steve shows up and they reconcile.

Miriam and Reg team up to get revenge; they also fall in love. Miriam convinces Reg to date the banker's daughter Amy and even suggests he marry her. Reg turns her down: "our impulse of vengeance was wrong to begin with!" He leaves town. Reg returns and is reunited with Miriam.

When an upset Judy arrives and asks for Jack, Kate turns her away and the distraught woman, the widow of a war buddy of Jack's, is badly injured in an accident. Jack breaks up with Kate because of her "insane jealous streak." Kate confesses everything and helps Judy recover; Jack says "let's give it another whirl."
