Synopsis: Disappointed in her quest for love, teacher Annie asks to be reassigned to a school in a different area to get away from her memories. Sent to a rural area, she meets adult student Jeff and tutors him so he can attend veterinary school. They fall in love. This upsets Mrs. Hanlon, who wants Jeff to marry her daughter Elvira. Annie is fired but will marry Jeff and help him achieve his career goals.

Comic Story (5 pages) A Baby's Love
Synopsis: Marian meets her boyfriend Gene at the train station; he’s holding a baby that someone handed him to hold. The mother doesn’t come back, so Marian and Gene have to care for the baby overnight. Gene says he quit his job and left town because Marian wanted him to improve his career, but “it was a mistake!” and he’s taking up his old job. Marian apologises for her actions and they reconcile. Gene says he’s gotten a raise, in any case. The baby’s mother had “a bad appendix” so Marian will care for the infant a while longer.

Tony and Ellie fall in love. She gets angry when the demolition starts early, but Tony apologises and she agrees to marry him.

Synopsis: Assistant District Attorney Bonnie investigates Buck, who runs a restaurant and is suspected of gambling and passing counterfeit money. Buck is handsome and likeable, “a gentleman born!” Bonnie falls in love with him but suspects he’s trying to get her to give up her investigation. Police raid the restaurant and Buck is revealed as a Treasury agent tracking down the counterfeiters. He and Bonnie kiss.
