Synopsis: |
Helen’s late father was a theatrical newspaper editor, and she grows up in the Broadway world of good times and show biz celebrities. Helen dates Marvin, who owns a small radio shop. They fall in love and marry, but he’s a widower with two young sons and Jane finds it difficult to adjust to being a housewife and stepmother. Jane goes out with some old friends and one of Marvin’s sons falls ill. Jane realizes she has to take her responsibilities seriously and Marvin understands his wife needs a break from time to time. |

They begin an affair and Ruth asks Tom for a divorce. Afterwards, she continues to see Bill but he never asks her to marry him. Ruth learns from Lena that Bill is already married. Ruth goes back to Tom but he says “my love for you died” when he learned she’d been unfaithful. He and Lena are now engaged. Ruth knows “I had to pay for my folly with a broken heart.” |
